In modern modular shipyards where space is limited, traditional inclined slipways are replaced by a vertical lift platform known as a syncrolift. Vessels built in individual sections are moved onto a massive submerged steel platform using specialized rails or self-propelled modular transporters.
A highly sophisticated network of synchronized hoists lowers the platform evenly into the sea, completely eliminating the dynamic stress associated with sliding methods. Because even a few millimeters of tilt can warp structural components, advanced sensors and load monitors are integrated to ensure perfectly balanced vertical movement.
