This is it, people. How to make realistic lightsabers in Skyrim using vanilla assets.
First I show how I made the hilt. It's the dragonbone warhammer minus the head part. Texture swap nulltextureset onto the model to make it disappear. I used the equipment slot for shield so that the weapon will behave like a two handed sword, and also because when I use other slots, you can't see the hilt in first person. Damage resist and a ward effect were used for the enchantment so that you can block different kinds of damage.
The closest thing I could find to a lightsaber blade is the spear. Pay attention to the sounds I had selected for the weapon. Also notice I had the impact data for flames so the lightsabers would create a fiery sparks effect on hit and sometimes leave burn marks.
Now for the effect use don the blade. The casting light is how it can leave a light shining on your character. Notice how there is also a casting art. This controls how a spell looks equipped in your hand. Now we don't want that, but you need a casting art in order to for the casting light to work, so I use one that doesn't seem to be visible.
The shader effect is how I make the lightsaber blade glow. For the places where you can put a texture, I use a plain white for the blade, and in the places where you select a color I use whatever color I want the blade to glow on the outside, making sure the colors are all the same.
And that's it in a nutshell. So now that you all know how to do it, maybe someone can find an even better way to make lightsabers for Skyrim on the PS4.
