3D Printers are getting so fast, but how long does it really take to take something from start to finish? In this video I show how long it took to design slice, print and install a one-off structural part which is mounted into a post for a chain-link fence.

This is by no means a complicated job with just a few parts coming together, but the part needs to be strong, it needs to last and I needed to get it printed in a very short time to get the job done!

I have to say, that aside from printing with PLA, ASA, has a pretty nice finish, but it also has those bonuses, the flexibility of ABS, the high temp resistance, and also the one-up on ABS, being able to withstand UV light better... at least so I am told, I would like to wait a few years to see what it looks like after the sun beats down on it.

You may notice that I'm using the Bambu Lab X-1 Carbon printer, this was sent to me to test out (not a paid promotion). I'm super stoked to be able to use a printer with this speed and capability. This opens up a whole world of opportunity and will lead to even faster printers with seemingly limitless possibilities in the future.

Rest assured these parts can be printed on the Ender 3 printers as long as you have an all-metal hot end. That's going to allow temps to get into the range you need for ASA. I plan on upgrading my Ender 3 printers with the Sonic pads to see if I can print the speeds up, but I am also going to switch them over to DD with all metal hot ends to help get the printer to higher temp materials.

The X1 Carbon printer is pretty amazing, it's going to allow me to release more content faster than ever before, and venture into some areas which haven't been explored in 3D printing. Keep an eye out for 1-2 videos/week from now on.
