Our doctors are harnessing the power of advanced 3D printing to improve all kinds of complex surgeries, from facial reconstruction to open-heart surgery to sports medicine.
“This technology literally lets me put the anatomy into the surgeon’s hand,” Dr. Shafkat Anwar, medical director of our #UCSF Center for Advanced 3D+ Technologies (CA3D+) says. “It lets us take a newer, deeper look at what’s happening and make much more sophisticated decisions about what to do next.”
In this video, Anwar and pediatric heart surgeon Dr. V. Mohan Reddy use a #3D model of a teenage girl’s heart to prepare for a complex two-ventricle repair.
