At 3:36 a.m. Monday, a sedan—possibly a Mazda CX-5—crashed into a divider on the eastbound U.S. Route 290 exit ramp near Windfern Road. The vehicle was also on fire. The crash was fatal, according to the Houston Police Department incident page. The number of occupants is unknown, and it’s unclear whether only one person was inside. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division (VCD) units responded and are investigating. Eastbound lanes of 290 were shut down, while the feeder road remained open. No other vehicles were found at the scene, suggesting this may have been a single-vehicle crash.
