Hotel Park City/Ruth's Chris Super Fan Bret Stailey joins live from Jacksonville, Florida with his son Jack, explaining that his BYU fandom is a three-generation affair that started with his grandmother and father back in his hometown of Aztec, New Mexico. Growing up in WAC- and Mountain West-era New Mexico, Bret leaned on a family friendship with former BYU head trainer Kevin Morris — who occasionally snuck the family into practices — along with a backyard satellite dish just to watch games. After his mission, he spent years attending games alongside his grandmother, a longtime season-ticket holder, through the Gary Crowton era. Now living in Florida, Bret and his family stay up for every late West Coast kickoff and refuse to go to bed until the post-game show wraps.
The conversation turns personal and fun: Bret recalls the song he famously brought in for elementary school music class, and Jack shares what it was like sitting seven rows up when Evan Johnson sealed the Pop-Tarts Bowl with a game-ending interception right in front of them. Dave and Blaine also get a tour of the family's "Cougar Room," packed with autographed jerseys — including Yegor Demin, Richie Saunders, Rob Wright III, Bear Bachmeier, and AJ Dybantsa — with Jack naming Yegor's as his favorite.
