From another in the "Before they Were Famous" files: Here's a commercial for Mattel's Hot Wheels "Hot Ones" line of scale-model cars, featuring Steve Guttenberg, years before making his mark in the "Police Academy" films, "Three Men and a Baby," "Cocoon" and many others.
Bonus identification: The kid is played by Steven Mond, best known for playing Robbie Jason on the sitcom Diff'rent Strokes, and the dad is played by John Lawlor, best known for roles on "Phyllis" and the first season of "Facts of Life".
Here, Steve is a toy salesman showing a kid customer (and his dad) the latest "hot ones": a P-911 Turbo and Corvette Stingray. Those were part of a set of 12 "hot ones" being offered - each sold separately, of course.
This aired on local Chicago TV on Monday, September 21st 1981 during the 7:00am to 8:30am timeframe.
