Staff at Mayo University Hospital have deleted a dance video performed at the hospital after outrage from viewers.
A large number of staff from Mayo University Hospital recently produced a dance video performed on-site at the Castlebar hospital.
The video showed staff dancing through empty hallways and rooms in the hospital. It also included disturbing footage of the staff performing a mock resuscitation in an operating theatre.
When the video was published, viewers on social media were outraged. It was obvious from the video that despite the constant claims to the contrary the hospital is not overwhelmed and the staff are not under pressure. With 100,000s of people on waiting lists, the sight of an empty hospital and staff performing well-rehearsed dance moves angered viewers.
The video was then deleted by staff, but can still be viewed as of 06/03/21 on the Love Castlebar Facebook page.
There have been many unexplained, unexpected and sudden deaths at Mayo University Hospital since March 2020. Families are heartbroken, but there are no answers because the staff are gagged.
Catherine Donohoe (General Manager at Mayo University Hospital) sent a letter to all staff at the beginning of the first lockdown, on 16 March 2020, threatening disciplinary action if any of them spoke about “hospital business” outside of the hospital. News of the letter broke on RTE Drivetime on 20 May 2020 and was subsequently read out on Midwest Radio causing alarm across the nation.
Martina Burke was informed last July that the letter had been passed on to Cllr. Michael Kilcoyne who sits on the HSE Regional Health Forum.
However published minutes from the Regional Health Forum meetings show that no questions in relation to the letter or the gagging of hospital staff have ever been raised by Michael Kilcoyne.
We are calling upon Cllr. Michael Kilcoyne to to his duty and question the HSE on why the staff are gagged at Mayo University Hospital.
