Thoroughbred Race Horse opens her own sliding stall door by herself. Can American Pharoah do this? This 4 year old filly is not only a super fast race horse, she knows how to let herself in and out whenever she wants. We defiantly did not train her to do this as we worry she won't open the door all the way and catch her hip on the door if she runs in too fast. She seems to have it all figured out though and likes to perform this trick for the video camera. My favorite part about her trick is that she uses the handle to open the door. She doesn't just nudge the edge.
This horse had been doing this for a while, but not when people were looking. I hope to catch her closing the door on video, as this filly also likes to do, so I can link it to this door opening video. We first noticed the door closed when she was in her stall and we know we have it opened to a paddock for her to come and go as she pleases. Then we notices the door closed while she was outside in the paddock. We would ask each other, "Why did you shut her in today?" or "Why did you close her door so she couldn't come in?". The answer was always, "I didn't do it, she must have done it." followed by, "Yeh, right?"
The filly slowly started to let us in on her secret talent of door opening and closing. We would first hear the door sliding and when we would go in the barn, the stall door was partially opened or closed and sometimes shut all the way. Finally we caught the filly actually opening and closing the door. Well today she did it on command, sort of, and I caught her horse trick on video.
