This Märklin model train layout was built by Pilentum's friend Arnold. Arnold loves trains in all scales. Therefore, he not only has constructed a very large model railroad layout in 1 gauge in his home, but he also has a large collection of model train, scale models and locomotives in HO scale. In order to be able to move his rolling stock, he built a model train layout, which is about 2.0 meters wide and 5.0 meters long.
The model railway layout is built with C-track from Märklin, i.e. with track that has a plastic track bedding molded onto it. This generally ensures an uncomplicated and quick set-up. An overhead line for the electric locomotives is already being planned, but had not yet been installed for the filming. Behind the large train station, there is a small town. The town includes, for example, a church and a fire station. In addition, the model railroad layout includes a freight handling yard, a coal mine, some agriculture and various industrial operations.
The model rail layout consists of two levels and five circuits. Every circuit is digitally controlled by the so-called “Märklin Central Station 3”. This is a multi-protocol control device for model railroading. It offers the possibility of easy control of model trains, digital functions and other electronic components on the model railway layout. Two boosters have been installed to supply the model trains with electric power. Houses, buildings and other structures are also equipped with lighting, see the photos on Pilentum’s website. The entire scenery is mainly based on German railroad era III, i.e. trains from the period from 1945 to 1970.
