Japan finally got a super fight between champions, and this one was a little out of the box. The bigger man is featherweight champ' Shozo Saijo, the shorter super featherweight champ' Kobayashi, sadly most known for being smashed up by a young Roberto Duran. Both were WBA champions with multiple defences in their respective divisions.
The split decision rendered here was completely bogus IMO. Saijo, the straight up stalker with rocks in his fists and a massive heart, is soundly outboxed by the more experienced Kobayashi here, who picks his spots and uses eonomic movement to stop Saijo planting his feet too often.
