Coming off a hotly contested first battle over 12 rounds, World class Mexicans Castillo and Cruz rematch, only this time Cruz has outgrown bantamweight and forfeits his chance to earn a title shot at the devastating Ruben Olivares, defending his World championship on the same card against Alan Rudkin (the footage of that is seemingly lost to time)
Cruz uses his extra strength to bully the smaller man around the ring and leans on him. But just watch how Castillo deals with Cruz's added size and power with his brilliant inside fighting, especially with his back to the ropes. A cagey first few rounds but very interesting throughout with some great sequences and a chance to see one of Mexico's most underrated maestro's take on yet another very, very good contender.
Sadly for Cruz, most boxing aficionado's remember him for being annihilated by Kuniaki Shibata up at 126lbs.
