A few weeks ago, I uploaded a video of the Montserrat Monastery, strolling around, showing the shops and such. After recording that video, I went for a walk. Just outside, there's a path that, if followed, leads to a cross and a beautiful viewpoint. The trail can be as long or short as one desires, but I did the part that's most popular with tourists.

This 50-minute journey begins at Nakano Sun Mall, a 224-meter covered shopping arcade stretching from Nakano Station. The glass-roofed shotengai is filled with local shops, cafes, and restaurants, creating the perfect introduction to this vibrant neighborhood.
At the end of Sun Mall awaits Nakano Broadway, a legendary shopping complex that opened in 1966. Originally built as a luxury residential tower, it transformed over the decades into a paradise for collectors and pop culture enthusiasts. Today, its floors are packed with hundreds of tiny shops selling anime goods, vintage toys, rare manga, retro games, and unique collectibles. The iconic Mandarake stores, spread across multiple floors, have made this place a pilgrimage site for otaku from around the world.
After exploring the maze-like corridors of Nakano Broadway, we venture into the charming surrounding streets. Narrow alleyways reveal hidden izakayas, cozy restaurants, and the authentic atmosphere of everyday Tokyo life.
