A luxury superyacht was raided by police off the coast of England, caught with two tonnes of cocaine worth $220 million. It was a former military ship converted into a luxury expedition yacht. The former owner told me he sold it when he went broke half-way through a trip around the world. Let me tell you about it.

The Mob Reporter here with news of an enormous load of coke snatched off the high seas, when it was almost at the end of a luxurious transatlantic crossing. A man from England and five men from Nicaragua were arrested. The boat was Jamaican-flagged and left a Caribbean port 18 days before it was intercepted in international waters, 80 miles off England’s southwest coast on Sept. 9, 2021.
As a notable irony in this interesting case, the recently purchased $2-million yacht — called the Kahu — started life as a military vessel, formerly serving as a Royal New Zealand Navy patrol ship.
British authorities were alerted to the smuggling plot by Australian Federal Police, who learned of it from a joint sting with the FBI using AN0M, an encrypted communications system, that was distributed to criminals by undercover agents.
