A tour of the observatory at Climax and the coronograph. The observatory was established in 1940, and scientist Walter Orr Roberts operated the western hemisphere's first coronagraph there to observe the solar corona. During World War II he provided valuable information on the Sun's impact on radio communications. This film is from after the war, when the work at the observatory was no longer classified. The High Altitude Observatory would eventually become part of the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The observatory at Climax operated until 1972.
