Israel’s spy agency Mossad planted small explosives in thousands of pagers used by the militant group Hezbollah months before it exploded, according to Lebanese security sources.
The blast happened almost simultaneously across Lebanon on Tuesday.
At least 12 people, including two children, have been killed and nearly 3,000 people were injured.
Most of the injuries occurred in the Beirut area while around 750 people hurt were in the south of Lebanon.
Hezbollah and the Lebanese government blamed Israel for what appeared to be a remote attack.
