Peter Cottontail is a young Easter Bunny who lives in April Valley where all the other Easter bunnies live and work, making Easter candy, sewing bonnets, and of course, decorating and delivering Easter eggs.
Colonel Wellington B. Bunny, the retiring Chief Easter Bunny, names Peter his successor, despite his boasting, irresponsibility, and lying. Peter, who has dreamed of being the Chief Easter Bunny almost his entire life, gladly accepts. However, an evil bunny named January Q. Irontail, who lives all alone except for his bat Montressor also wants to become Chief Easter Bunny, only so he can ruin Easter for children as revenge after a child roller-skated over his tail in the past, forcing him to wear an iron tail.

Trivia:
Casey Kasem is Peter Cottontail , Danny Kaye is Seymour S. Sassafras and Vincent Price plays January Q. Irontail. Actors Joan Gardner, Paul Frees, Iris Rainer, Greg Thomas and Jeff Thomas also had roles.

Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment was known for its seasonal television specials, usually done in stop motion animation. Rankin/Bass' stop-motion productions are recognizable by their visual style of doll-like characters with spheroid body parts and ubiquitous powdery snow using an animation technique called "Animagic". Often, traditional cel animation scenes of falling snow would be projected over the action to create the effect of a snowfall. Currently, the pre-1974 Rankin/Bass library (including works from Videocraft International) is owned by NBCUniversal.

The special has seen multiple releases in various formats most recently A Blu-ray was released by DreamWorks on February 22, 2019 as a Wal-Mart exclusive, containing a heavily edited version that runs nearly ten minutes shorter. Earlier versions on DVD have the entire special.

The special can be found on streaming services as well as local broadcasts but here is a clip from the special. Enjoy and Be A Kid Again.....
