Since 2016, Meridian has worked alongside the Department of Conservation (DOC) and Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, as National Partner of the Kākāpō Recovery Programme.

Through our partnerships we've been able to achieve many milestones including kākāpō numbers doubling to 247 known birds and the transfer of four kākāpō to Mainland New Zealand in over 30 years.

We're proud to be a part of the team to help bring this taonga species back from the brink of extinction.
