I’ve known Crazy Al for nearly 20 years, and in that time I’ve watched him become one of the most respected and technically skilled tiki carvers in the world. His precision, creativity, and deep understanding of traditional and modern tiki design have earned him a reputation that’s hard to match.
In this episode, I bring him to my own frontyard for something special. What started as a dead palm tree turns into a full blown transformation as Al spends 13 days carving it into a one of a kind piece of tiki art. This is not a quick build or a highlight reel. To make the the drink in the video:
1oz Lime Juice
1oz Orange Juice
1/2oz Grapefruit Juice
1/2oz Passionola Syrup (sub passion fruit syrup)
3/4oz Honey Syrup
1/2oz Orgeat
1/4oz Falernum
2oz Hamilton Breezeway Blend
1oz Hamilton Demerara Rum
1oz Soda Water
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Pour ingredients into mixing tin saving the soda water for the last step. Mix on high with two scoops of pebble ice. Add the soda water to the Barrel. Pour unstrained into your Breezeway Barrel by Tiki Farm®.
Garnish with a purple orchid, a bunch of mint, and an orange slice oriented along the back wall of the mug. Place two pineapple leaves behind the slice.
Dust with powdered sugar.

Back in February of 2024, we announced something exciting with the release of Hamilton’s Breezeway Blend Rum. With that came a challenge for the Breezetonians to create the ultimate cocktail using this rum.
By May, we kicked off a wild new experiment with live cocktail contests streamed right here on YouTube. Over ten episodes, we shook, stirred, and tasted more than thirty recipes that you all sent in. It was fun, unpredictable, and full of tiki energy.
Now it’s time for the finals. In this first episode, our finalists return to the Breezeway to face off in round one of the Breezeway Blend Cocktail Contest Finals.
Four special episodes will decide it all, and by the end, one of these creators will earn the title of Grand Champion and take home the vintage Breezeway trophy.

Justin Scarred started carving tikis! In this episode, we made a cocktail featuring maple syrup from 1962 and take a look at some of his carvings.
To make the cocktail in this video:
½ oz fresh lime juice
½ oz grapefruit juice
½ oz maple syrup (grade A only)
½ oz falernum or Falernum #9
½ oz orange curaçao
1 oz soda water
3 drops vanilla extract
3 drops almond extract
¾ oz dark jamaican rum
¾ oz light rum
¾ oz gold puerto rican rum
Mix on high with crushed ice. Pour into a double fashioned glass.

In this episode, I head to Camarillo, CA in Ventura County to visit escapist bar builder Notch during the final stretch of his latest tiki bar build. Walls are still unfinished, details are coming together, and the vision is finally becoming real.
We tour the space while it is still very much a construction zone and talk with the builders bringing this bar to life. From the craftsmanship to the problem solving, this is a rare look at what it actually takes to build a modern tiki bar from the ground up.
Then, months later, we return.
The bar is finished, the doors are open for a soft opening, and the drinks are flowing. I taste every cocktail on the menu and see how the space feels now that it is alive and full of people.
From raw build to first pour, this episode captures the full journey of a brand new tiki bar coming into existence.
