Another single star TAS that will be implemented in the 150 stars TAS. It takes 1.5s to put on Mario's cap but he is so much faster than Yoshi on the whole movement that he ends up being faster. In fact, Yoshi can't punch so he can't go fast on the slopes, and he would also have very limited movement inside the cave.
The jump I do before entering the cave is a slope jump which means I will instantly be able to move when I land, but the jump is slower to perform than a normal ground jump. The instant dive recover on the switch inside the cave is actually very precise.

EDIT : Some people are asking about 0:19 which is the entry of the cave. Yes, I start decreasing the vertical speed before, otherwise itd be slower to start decreasing it as soon as Im not in front of the wall anymore. Plus, theres a clip that puts my vertical speed at -91000 for 2 frames. So that cant be slow anyway.
TS = touchscreen
Theres something that I have been knowing for a long time about swimming, but actually never said it anywhere :
So with TS you can do very precise swimming, for example if you hold the TS halfway up or halfway down into the yellow circle, you will move sightly diagonally (thats kinda logical). Lets say you want to go up, you would hold down somewhere on the touchscreen. More down you hold, higher you will go. And more you go up, slower you will move horizontally (that literally follows Pythagores theorem).
When going up, you can only go vertically at the maximum when holding completely down, which means going horizontally very slowly. Lets take DDD for example. When swimming into the first part of the tunnel, sooner I need to go up. My goal is to reach the top as fast as possible, and reaching it at the best place. So I hold down exactly the right amount to reach the top edge the fastest way. Then I go back to around 0 vertical speed since Im over the flat part and Im passing through the loading point. After that, I need to go down.
HERE is the interesting thing. When going up, the maximum vertical speed possible is about 92000, and only reachable when holding completely down. Though, while going down (holding upper than the center of the TS), you cant go vertically faster than -49152. If you hold halfway up or even a bit less (meaning you go at about 75000 horizontal speed, you will reach -49152 vertical speed. But holding completely up (meaning you almost dont move horizontally) also makes you reach -49152 and not less. This means you can go at the same time quite fast horizontally and at minimum vertical speed (-49152). All of that means that I can kind of freely redirect myself while going down in DDD pass the loading point while being careful to go down at -49152. Its useful because you wont lose any frame doing that. Its used for the submarine star in DDD. That can be useful to freerun a bit, or even just place yourself well while going down (used for DDD 100 for example). This makes it so going down doesnt apply to Pythagores theorem past about halfway up in the yellow circle of the TS.
In this star, thats used so that I can redirect myself to look forward while passing through the tunnel.

OPEN THE DESCRIPTION :
This star was previously 1x because we werent able to ledge grab the platform from the pole.
But thanks to my recent discoveries about Luigi, I figured out that we can fall from the pole to ledge grab the other platform, since his falling horizontal speed increases faster than any other character !
Nothing more to say. Im glad about those Luigi physics. Really.

NEW TRICK used in this run : QUICKTURN
Yes ! Quickturn is now possible in SM64DS ! We always tried to figure out the fastest way to turn around instantly, and unfortunately we were never able to do it as fast as in SM64. Thanks to ALAKTORN who randomly figured it out to talk to the Toad in the mini-game room while TASing it, we can quickturn as fast as in SM64, and we can also do it while running ! What you need to do to quickturn is simply to press a very small forward input on the touchscreen, and if youre running you need to press in the yellow zone, because the red zone will make you lose your speed very slowly. Pressing a yellow input while running will make your character walking very slowly instantly, and then you just need to stop as fast as possible, and choose your direction ! I used this trick here for the 1st bully with a red zone input since my speed was 0 after the longjump.
