Hello! Welcome to our channel! And welcome to our first adventure in Kona!
We decided to go check out some nearby beaches from our apartment but boy, we didn’t know how intense the ride was going to be!
Basically these 2 beaches, (Mahai’ula & Makalawena Beaches) are reachable by driving 15 minutes through a lava field. Only parts of the road are actually paved, but the rest is like off-roading! Definitely need a Jeep, SUV, truck… anything that’s higher than a normal sedan. It will make your life easier!
Hawaiian Monk Seals and Green Sea Turtles are frequent visitors to this area, and it’s such an amazing experience seeing them in person, even if they’re just sleeping or sunbathing :)
Please be aware that these are endangered species and are protected by the government, so please don’t get near them and absolutely no touching them! A lot of people run into the turtles because they can be mistaken by rocks, but when you do realize it’s an animal, just move back and keep your distance! :)

After getting married, we realized that owning a big house and working at a big company wasn't our definition of success and it certainly wasn’t making us happy.
We realized that we are our happiest when we’re traveling and learning about different cultures, so we decided to follow that passion and go on an adventure around the world.
