Stop-Motion Transformation of Hasbro Revenge of the Fallen Leader Jetfire. If you look closely, you can tell the jet turns into a robot. Wouldn’t it be cool if Unique Toys tackled a Jetfire to go along with their upcoming RotF Optimus? I thought I heard a rumor about that but couldn’t find it anywhere. Hoping that wasn’t just my imagination. We live near - and frequently visit - the Udvar-Hazy aerospace museum in Dulles, VA. The museum has an SR-71 front and center in its display and in fact is where they shot the indoor scenes from RotF when Jetfire is introduced. When he breaks out suddenly it’s one of those airplane graveyards in the US southwest, because Michael Bay can’t concern himself with such petty things as rational time and space.

Production Note: I shot this starting with them combined, so some of the editing was a bit tricky and it ended up with the transition to speed run not also having that change in rotation direction. I also did two different blueprint sequences so the audience wouldn’t be tipped off right away that I would show them combining. Surprise!

If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using your , and . keyboard keys to advance by single frames. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.
