The longest I have spent building, playtesting, and verifying a level. Possibly the hardest platformer extreme. At least the second hardest one. I added an in-game practice mode so yall can actually learn the level, since the checkpoints are rather sparse.

Im going to be honest, Ive been looking forward to this level being released for a while. After playing a preview of this a few weeks ago, I could already tell that Bran was going to release a banger. Vera is characterized by Brans super unique style which uses simple block designs and flashy colors. Its honestly surprising how well Bran does some of his designs in this level, as some of them seem that they simply wouldnt work in concept. Notably, the colors are extremely unique, with rapidly changing colors and many vast contrasts between hues. Furthermore, the section where the only gameplay is spinning spikes is super original while still looking completely full and decorated. Another aspect of the level that I appreciate is the use of rainbow effects. Utilizing rainbow effects in a design level is honestly quite difficult, and Bran uses them near perfectly in the buildup to the drop and in the drop. The rainbows dont really stick out from the other designs at all, and each rainbow section matches the intensity of the song remarkably well. Another notable aspect of this level is the gameplay, which has its pros and cons. The gameplay is certainly original, utilizing some interesting fakes not often seen in levels. However, sometimes the gameplay feels a bit clunky and off-sync, which may hamper enjoyment slightly. Overall, this is some of the best work Ive seen from Bran: its unique, memorable, and has excellent replay value. I cant wait to see more from Bran in the future.

Quite a good level! Granted, I did get lucky with the ending, which certainly factors into my enjoyment. Overall, this would probably be one of the best levels on the list if the level wasnt so end-difficult heavy, but I really enjoyed this.

Ive played most of XdMaNIaCs levels, and from what Ive seen, Get Real is definitely their best work. Get Real utilizes many different styles throughout, ranging from realistic art to more abstract designs. I really appreciate the specific designs for each section. For instance, the first part with all of the doors is very cleanly made, and the way the section fades in and out gives a dreamy atmosphere to the level. This dreamy and vast atmosphere is also carried throughout the entire level, which helps bring every part together. I also like the attention to music sync. Not only does the gameplay sync well with the music, but designs throughout the level also follow along such as the clock in the second part which pulses and turns to the music. Another detail I really like is how the clock moves clockwise in the first spider section, but once the player moves through the mirror portal, the clock moves counterclockwise. While there is quite a bit of attention to detail, the level does feel quite disjointed at times. For example, the realistic-looking first parts transition to the more design-based second part is quite jarring, and there is not much attaching them together. Perhaps a different transition could be used signifying the change of style rather than just a black and white transition. Nonetheless, this level was very enjoyable to play, and I am looking forward to seeing XdMaNIaCs work continue to improve in future levels.

Vector By Cirtrax is a level that brings out some old Atari arcade classics and mashes them together in a both nostalgic and simplistic compilation. Throughout the level, there are unique design elements that really bring out character, and I was surprised at how well these designs were done. For example, the ship from the Atari game Asteroids at the beginning breaking the rocks in front of the player to allow the player to get through was a really neat touch. Other references to Atari games are present in nearly every single design in the level, and the amount of these that are presented are quite astounding. It is notable to mention that all of these designs were done in an extremely simplistic fashion: most of the blocks were done completely in a wireframe design. While Im not a huge fan of simplistic designs, I must admit that the designs throughout the level - despite being simple - were still able to create an interesting and captivating atmosphere. While I believe the overall level is excellent, I believe its downside is its length, which is only 52 seconds. I believe the level was definitely enjoyable for the length that it was, but it certainly could have been expanded with more ideas and references to other Atari games. Overall, Vector By Cirtrax is an enjoyable and clean level, but it does suffer from its extremely short length.
