The Retract-A-Gate is easy to install. This customer used the Stair Banister Adapter Kit to create a flat surface for the mounting Brackets to attach to. This customer attached the adapter to her banister with included straps and home made spacers - no screws involved! The other side was screwed in to a stud in her wall. She had to use spacers on the wall side to keep the mounting brackets plumb with each-other. With a little creativity and installation accessories, the Retract-A-Gate will fit any space.
