Yay, another part for Multi_exe, this time for a Vent MEP!: youtube.com/watch?v=atB7VE6Ef_U
I always love Vent MEP's where you pick a character to symbolize your struggles - also the song is really cool - so I obviously joined in with my beloved Frodo again to portray my struggles with OCD, chronic illness and a feeling of loneliness/uncertainty and mood swings. That's already my 3rd Frodo Vent MEP part lol!
The lyrics ("Say you're good, say you're fine, tell 'em everything's alright, Hollywood on your timeline, telling you what to wear, and what to "Like" and how to Be") we're - for the most part - pretty freestyle to work with, so I mainly just put scenes where the One Ring somewhat portrays my OCD/my urge to disinfect or clean everthing, something tempting but the fact that the ring is on the dirty floor seems horrifying, shown through the Eye Of Sauron. The stress and weird thoughts is something you don't wanna talk about and can't really explain either, so it's Frodo just sitting there, burdened by everything, telling Sam that he cannot help him and that he wants to be left alone. His magical wounds hurting and bothering him sometimes are supposed to be my chronic illness, where the Nazgul attack is portraying my fear of (painful) medical procedures. I thought Rivendell as a fancy place would be a nice stand-in for Hollywood... followed by Frodo (Elijah WOOD) visiting actual woods (lol) which I added after walking through a forest-like park to the supermarket like I always do today, a half-lonely-half-free-thing I do. Him wandering around is basically me not knowing what to do in life. Then we have some more Frodo/Me feeling both seduced and sick from the Ring/urge to disinfect (also with a reference to my constant headaches). Frodo greedily, almost possesively grabbing the ring's chain is my obsessive urge to clean in order to feel good - also, he's "wearing" something, just like in the song. For "what to like" I just wanted to put a happy scene where Frodo "likes" someone to fit the lyrics and as contrast for the next scene of Frodo complaining, the final metaphor for me becoming angry/aggressive when my parents scold me for acting on my OCD. It was actually quite nice to vent a bit.
For transitions I used a mix of blending transitions and black transitions to make it look both slightly dramatic and sad and I think despite the editing being a bit too... quick I still like how it turned out.
