Bach Toccata BWV 914
Hank Knox, clavecin / harpsichord

Canadian Hank Knox has embraced European early music repertoire with a
startling passion. An inventive and novel interpreter, Knox brings new life
to the harpsichord music he cherishes, finding a palpable vitality and
enthusiasm in the old works and offering a new view of them.

Knox's musical influences are extremely diverse, with a not-so-secret penchant
for musical icon Frank Zappa, and some colorful pursuits that seem utterly
paradoxical to his rigorous Baroque performance practice. It is perhaps
Knox's iconoclastic streak that enables him to take a fresh approach. The
novelty and independence of his approach allows him to pull new meaning from
the repertoire to make it of our time. We can't help but to think that given
the impossible chance, the composer would be happy to hear a Knox
interpretation.
