From the making of the album "Legacy, the music of Ross Taggart"
Two years after the loss of Jazz figure Ross Taggart, the Vancouver saxophonist's peers gathered to record a tribute album.
Met by a wave of support, the crowd-sourced project was successfully funded by Taggart's fans. Emotions ran deep as the band took up Taggarts original compositions in a heartfelt recording session.
The resulting music is unmistakably marked by grief, joy and life-changing friendship. In the film we hear bandleader Jill Townsend, producer Cory Weeds and arranger Bill Coon reflect on their time with Taggart, his impact on his fans, and the deep loss experienced by musicians and fans in Vancouver.
