In this video we take a ride on Hamilton Street Railway’s route 1 King, which runs east and west between Hamilton Go Centre & HSR’s University Plaza along King Street. Route 1 runs 7 days a week, almost 24 hours a day. The route uses 40 foot, and 60 foot transit buses.
1434 is a 2015 New Flyer Xcelsior Xcelsior XN60 and is part of a 17 Unit order (1420-1437) These buses are HSR’s first fleet of CNG powered 60 foot buses, aswell as their first Xcelsior artics. These units are also part of HSR’s return to CNG after purchasing taking a break and purchasing full on diesel from 2004-2012. They are also the first XN60’s to enter service in Ontario. The units are powered by a Cummins 8.9L 330HP Turbocharged 6 Cylinder EPA2013 Natural Gas Engine (ISL-G) and an Allison World 6 Speed Automatic transmission (Gen V B500R). These units ride on MAN Drive Axles, and have driver controlled heating and cooling for both driver and passengers. These buses also feature American Seating Insight seats for the passengers.
