Halloween: The Game just revealed our first real look at its online matchmaking system, including role-based queue options for Michael Myers, civilians, no preference, private match lobbies, killer tokens, and even more new multiplayer UI just days before launch. The latest gameplay preview confirms players will be able to choose whether they want to queue as Michael, queue as a civilian, or select no preference for the fastest possible matchmaking, while players who specifically want to play as the Boogeyman can spend earned Killer Tokens to enter a priority Michael queue. Thankfully, these Killer Tokens are earned by playing and completing matches, not locked behind a paywall, and they are only consumed once you actually enter a match as Michael, meaning you should not lose one just because of a disconnect before the game starts. We also get one of our best looks yet at the game's menus, including the multiplayer tab, character profiles, customization, player level, cross-platform indicators, ready-up system, connection ping, private match UI, and a new look at Haddonfield Heights, described as a cozy neighborhood under the Haddonfield water tower with homes, fences, hedges, side streets, interiors, and even the abandoned Myers house. On top of that, the new footage shows Michael hiding in a closet, getting hit with a flashlight, stalking civilians through dynamic rain, and walking with some seriously heavy 1978-style Michael Myers animation, although one window-fall animation is definitely catching some attention online for looking a little rough. In this video, we're breaking down everything shown in the new matchmaking trailer, how the killer priority system works, what the new UI tells us about multiplayer, the private match options, the latest Michael Myers gameplay clips, and another recent teaser showing Haddonfield residents partying before Michael arrives. With Halloween: The Game now less than two weeks away digitally, the multiplayer systems finally being shown, private matches confirmed to randomize roles, and the game looking sharper than ever, there is a LOT to talk about. What do you think about the role-based matchmaking system and Killer Tokens, and are you planning to queue as Michael, civilians, or no preference?
