"I will not be going through the episodes. This mod burnt me out and I am pretty sure the changes in the episodes were minor anyways. Also YouTube has a file size limit so yeah.
Also yes, I am aware the sun is leaking. I do listen to other people's opinions on this mod. As for my opinion, this mod is a bit on the hard side. It may be easy for others, but I found it quite difficult. Yell at me for having skill issues in the comments since YouTube likes engagement.
Now I am FULLY aware of the blacklist this mod has, I'm not too worried. It's a blacklist. If you can't play the mod because you're in the list, just make another account. Even if the developers are THAT spiteful to inject a virus into the mod, 99% of all the anti-virus software would pick it up and remove it. Why an I this confident? Allow me to segue into the mod's stability.
The lights seeping into some corners of the geometry, the game would crash occasionally, missing textures, NPCs sometimes going back to where they started since their scripts may replay for some reason, NPCs not reacting to anything at all, the title saying 'Half-Life' and not 'Half-Life 2', etc...
I remember making a joke about merging Half-Life with Overcharged from my previous video and I REEEEAAALLLLY do hope that doesn't happen.
Now let's talk about the weapons. There are obviously TONS of weapons. I barely used any of them for a few reasons. They appeared to do the same amount of damage even though I'm sure they all have different damage values internally, and the over powered weapons made all of the other weapons redundant.
Allow me to explain my reasoning since YouTube likes long descriptions. The base pistol does 15 damage (per head shot), so it would take me four shots to kill a zombie. The Beretta does 17 damage (per head shot) so it would still take me four shots to kill a zombie. Since they seemingly do the same amount of damage. I had to pick the fastest weapon (which so happened to be the base pistol) and stick with that one.
If I'm wrong about the damage values of the Beretta, yell at me in the comments. YouTube likes engagement.
As for the over powered weapons. The kick and the airboat gun. The kick does more damage and has more range than all of the melee weapons. The airboat gun recharges when ammo is depleted with the added bonus of being able to take down helicopters. The developers tried to balance it by lowering the ammo count but that's not what made it over powered. I'm sure you saw me 'cheat' a few times by sitting behind cover and spawning tons of ammo for the gun just so I don't have to just sit there and wait to be able to use the gun again. Sitting there waiting for something isn't fun.
The extra NPCs felt like they were just dumped haphazardly on any walk-able space regardless if they fit the theme of the level. Sure SOME NPCs fit but it's like randomly guessing on a math quiz. You would get at least one answer right. Doesn't help the fact that the NPCs' models were made by different people.
The new areas were...I will say this. At least you tried.
There were geometry clipping into itself, I got lost so badly I had to cheat to get myself out, and there were a few areas that didn't really...add anything interesting.
Now I was told that the episodes did have new areas, the weapons and NPCs makes an appearance, and other new mechanics. I have no intent to play the episodes so I will leave you with this.
I do admire the developer's ambition to make something only they would enjoy.
This video took me waaay too long to make. So if you want me to make another video like this, let me know.
...I am soooo going on the blacklist after this. But that's okay. I don't plan on playing this again unless you guys beg me to do it."
