Finally got brave and threw some plants into a self-watering planter using a normal aroid soil mix. Does it work???? YES!
Everyone always talks about how aroids MUST have loose, chunky soil but, surprisingly this has been working very well. I wait until the top layer dries out and then I add more water to the reservoir. My test plants are thriving!
