Police Report (juvenile name redacted):
“On March 14, 2022 I was dispatched to the Pier in reference to a physical dispute.
Upon arriving on scene I made contact with the Victim, _____ who is a juvenile _____ _____. Upon Speaking with _____ he stated the following: _____ was in the water surfing on the south side of the Pier when he caught a wave that was pushing him towards the north due to the current. _____ stated that when he caught the wave he was outside the 15’ “no surfing zone” but the current was pushing him towards the Pier and into close proximity of where several people were fishing from the Pier. ____ the continued to ride the wave up the shore inside the “no surfing zone” where he walked up the beach and onto the boardwalk.
_____ stated that he was then confronted by Russell about being inside the “no surfing zone” and interfering with fishermen. _____ stated that he and Russell exchanged words and shortly thereafter he was charged at and struck with a closed fist by two (2) of Russell’s friends who were later identified as Daniel and Anthony. ____ further stated that he then struck back Anthony with a closed fist in self-defense and it was at this time Daniel blindsided him and struck him from behind with a closed fist which knocked him over and into the boardwalk railing. _____ stated that he continued to fight with Anthony & Daniel for a short period of time before the fight was broken up. _____ stated that he was in fear for his life during the incident.
A friend of _____ was on scene then the fight occurred and was able to videotape the incident and show it to me. The video footage confirms _____ story and clearly shows _____ talking to Russell and the fight that occurs thereafter. Shortly thereafter Daniel & Anthony entered the area running in full stride towards Russell & ______ . Anthony is the first to get to ____ and as _____ attempts to flee, Anthony continues to charge at him and strike him. A couple seconds later, Daniel is seen charging at ___ from behind at which time he strikes _____ with a closed fist from behind and knocks him over and into the railing. _____, Daniel, and Anthony then continue to fight for a brief moment when the fight was broken up.
____ had swelling, redness, and an abrasion behind his left ear. He also had swelling and redness on his left foot from falling during the fight. ______ refused medical treatment.
I then made contact with Russell, Anthony, and Daniel who all denied striking _____ and stated they were angry due to him being inside the “no surfing zone”. Russell did confess to verbally confronting _____, but Anthony and Daniel denied ever striking _____ and would only state that they got involved to help Russell so he would not get beat up.
Contact was then made with ____ father, M___ J___, whom was advised of the incident and stated that he wished to pursue charges due to ___ being a juvenile.
Let it be known that as stated above ___ is a juvenile whom weighs approximately 130 lbs. Anthony and Daniel are grown men whom both weighed over 200 lbs., are much larger in size than ____ as well as stature.”
