Police report:
“On January 18th 2020 I D/S N. Schultz responded to a welfare check. Upon arrival, I made contact with the above defendant. The defendant was unconscious in the driver's seat of a parked truck in the above location's parking lot. Upon waking the Defendant, he stepped out of the truck and appeared highly intoxicated. While talking with the defendant throughout the encounter, he took an aggressive posture by clenching his fists and cursing loudly, demanding that I leave him alone. While speaking with the defendant, his attention turned to subjects behind him coming out of the bar. At which time the defendant started to lose his balance and stagger several steps backward. I reached my hands out in attempt to prevent him from falling over, at which time the defendant regained his balance. The defendant then swung his right arm and intentionally struck me in the chest.”
