About ALL AMERICAN XXIII: Let’s Take an Old - Fashioned Walk:
Borrowing its title from a classic Irving Berlin song— popularized by Frank Sinatra and Doris Day—Bruce Weber’s latest installment of his All-American journal series presents a joyful array of passionate performers, visual virtuosos and dedicated altruists. The performing arts take center stage in this 23rd edition. Weber offers portfolios and profiles devoted to long-time friends and musical collaborators including the bassist Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the boundary- breaking Broadway icon Chita Rivera and Eduardo Marturet, the celebrated composer and maestro of the Miami Symphony Orchestra. Weber shares a personal essay in praise of the gallery owner Lee Witkin and the photographer George Tice, whose work opens the volume.
