While running a documentary production workshop in Arizona we took the opportunity to go up to the Grand Canyon. This was shot on a regular tourist helicopter flight over the Canyon using a Sony FS700 with the 18-200mm kit lens. It worked out really well as the optical stabiliser combined with the active steadyshot gives a really stable image. The other students in the group shot with a Sony F3 and while not as stable also got some great aerial footage. In order to help get a stable shot the footage was shot at 60fps, then played back at 24fps. The helicopter was an Bell Jet Ranger (206) which is not the most stable of aerial filming platforms. Some additional stabilization was added in post production using the warp stabilizer in Premiere CS6
