The opening follows Captain Gran and the crew of the Grandcypher, including Lyria and Vyrn, as they journey through the Zegagrande Skydom in search of the mythical Astral realm of Estalucia. Their arrival is anything but smooth, as the crew is attacked and forced to summon the primal dragon Bahamut to defend the airship, only for the situation to spiral dramatically and send Gran, Lyria and Vyrn overboard. This opening stretch serves as both a thrilling introduction to the story and a hands on tutorial for the game's real time action combat, easing new players into the mechanics before the party regroups and reaches town.
