GP15s Smoking on The Union Pacific's -Roots Blown EMDs, Job 75, and rough track- @SD457500

EMD GP15s, aka "baby tunnel motors", can still be found working on The Union Pacific Railroad. These older locomotives kick up a lot of smoke when throttled up, and sound great with their roots blown engines. While UP never purchased these directly, they acquired them through mergers with the the Missouri Pacific, and CNW. Union Pacific is the last class 1 railroad in the United States to have these on their roster.

In this video, we'll see Job 75 working Sanimax, and pulling a heavy cut of cars, making a LOT of smoke in the process. These units were idling for about two days, and as a result, they put on a NICE smoke show whenever they were under a load. As the crew performs some switch moves, they pair of older EMDs belched smoke time and time again. Pretty cool to see a pair of former MoPac units together in 2023, and getting a workout!
