In this two-"player" speed run, I control both forces myself. I use a few techniques to help me manage the second controller. First, I taped the controller to a table to keep it in place. That way I don't need to hold it in my hands to stop it from moving when I press buttons or the control stick. Second, I use cruise control to make the system think I'm holding up on the stick. You can do this by pressing down (the opposite of the desired direction) and holding X + Y + Start for a second. This helps me descend with Death ICBM. I turn off cruise control for battle 10 since all the enemies are in the air, so I have less reason to descend.
The first force has a Flame Dragon and the second has a bunch of Death ICBMs. My general strategy is to kill one wave of borgs with the dragon, then kill the next with an ICBM. I had the great fortune of getting four Beam Satellites on battle 10, which allowed me to finish very quickly. The rest of the run went pretty well too.
I make heavy use of mutant borgs in all these runs. See my explanation on this wiki page for more information:
