Quick test of £2.99 lidl kitchen timer (flat top and magnetic bottom) with gopro resting on - works great for a cheap timelapse timer, I just rested gopro on top, but you could always use velcro or stick a tripod adaptor onto the top of it.

Obviously it only rotates one way - right to left, so I reversed middle section of video to break this up, and works OK if you don't look too closely ;)

Personally I prefer to shoot video and speed up x16 rather than use stills and create timelapse that way, this way you can adjust speed depending on what you shot, and it has a less jumpy look to me than proper timelapse. Windows Movie Maker can speed up x8/x16/x32 so I do a pass at x8 on that then use HMS12 to tweak timing from there (it can only speed up to x4 in a pass).
