Recently the media concluded that Google have a diversity problem...... and BOY do they have a diversity problem and it is getting worse year on year.
Allow me to go through the statistics as provided by Google, show you the problem and go through all the bits the media seem awfully reticent to talk about (by awfully reticent I mean in article after article they will mention anything BUT the elephant in the room).

Why is all this important? It is important because what it shows is that clearly we live in societies that are unable to deal with issues in the way they claim to. Whatever is claimed about tackling under and over-representations wherever they occur, just as in the way that as girls have increasingly dominated educational performance and university enrolment the narrative has not switched to the under-representation of boys but instead from the general attendance to just focussing on the ever narrower list of fields where girls do not dominate. Likewise, what we seem to be seeing here is that people are similarly just as reticent to even acknowledge anything other than "white" as the over-represented group. When presented with such a scenario they either freeze over and pretend not to notice or, incredibly in one case, continue with the usual mantra even whilst showing you the statistics which show the exact opposite.
That ought to give us pause for thought: how far would the statistics have to shift before the media, or corporations like Google, even acknowledged them, let alone mentioned them as something in need of tackling as they would if the under-representations went in the "expected" direction?

Some other examples of media reporting. Note how they are all super-concerned that groups have the "correct" statistical representation but not one of them draws attention to the elephant in the room:
