This is the original titles to the 1952 Disney short How to Be Detective, scanned from a 35mm Technicolor print. The names of animators John Sibley and Ed Aardal have switched places in the Buena Vista reissue, but the most interesting difference is the title card, where both the lettering and the illustration were faithfully recreated for the reissue. You need to look very closely at details such as the hair in the beard and the reflection in the magnifying glass to notice it.
This well-worn print, dated 1952, was likely used for the original theatrical release. There were multiple splices throughout, and the entire first scene with the waterfront was missing, so I’ve used the version on the Treasures to patch it up. All the elements of the original opening and closing titles were present, however.
