Golden Axe by Virgin/Probe, loaded from tape
So this is the game the developers did directly after completing Turbo Outrun, and they said in a Zzap interview that they understood the sins committed in mastering that one, and took steps to do it better this time - by, amoungst other things, reducing the level data size, and cutting out certain features which would require code loading (the chicken beasts being the big one) as well as limiting to one on one combat.
Unfortunatly, as you can see here, they then went and committed exactly the same sins, obviously not understanding what the actual committed sins are - to be fair, the initial title screen loading isn't a huge digi tune, and there is only one of them, but it could have been a loading screen, and we could have loaded straight into the game from there - and in game in 4 minutes instead of the 8 that it actually takes.
Also, the initial run of this game lacked the last level, for further failures in mastering. Interestingly, this seems to use the same loader style as the US Gold games - maybe probe had a copy of that, maybe they supplied it in the first place, maybe it just looks the same....
