James Pond 2: Codename Robocod by Millenium for C64, loaded from tape
I've been away for a while due to my capture setup breaking, but I'm back with a new setup that lets me, shocker of shocker, actually watch the output in low latency and reliably capture at the same time. To this end, I decided to try this game after having loved the commodore format demo as a teenager, but having never gotten my hands on the full game back then.
The tape loader isn't _great_ initially - 7-8 minutes before gameplay, excluding the intro, but at least once you're playing there isn't a whole lot of rewinding, so it's acutally okay - the graphics are, as you can see, completly terrible - I assume a really bad auto-conversion from the amiga - but the game actually holds up better than I expected, once I worked out the physics - that's me dying _repeatedly_ on the first level due to the incredibly slippery controls, but hvaing gotten over that it's a reasonably fun, if sparse, platformer.
