Exploring Abandoned Mines and Unusual Places | Going Underground and Finding a Giant Headframe Over a Deep Shaft @AbandonedMines11 | Uploaded August 2020 | Updated October 2024, 42 seconds ago.
We never expected to find such an enormous sheave wheel at the top of the underground headframe we found in the Magnolia Mine. This abandoned mine dates back to the 1890s and was worked off and on through the 1950s for silver and gold. It's reported to have five levels but most of those are inaccessible due to cave-ins and backfilling. During this exploration, we found miners' graffiti dating back almost a century! Along the way we found a narrow stope above and below the main haulage tunnel we were in as well as interesting sulphur deposits that actually might've been limonite.

Nick teamed-up with me for this exploration and documentation. Nick's YouTube channel, Miner49er, has some great videos of his solo explorations of abandoned mines, so drop on by and check them out by clicking here: youtube.com/channel/UC5-1Mf2hhH-vo_uGT4lBC6w
