I am rather perplexed by the amount of tourism that the gaming community has. Remember when we discuss God of War Laufey? I guess some people really don't like that you're playing as someone who isn't a God of War, but if you ask me, we got way bigger issues in this discourse, and that is these dumbass tourists invading the medium.
// I've been playing God of War since PS1.
God of War. PS1.
"You just lost all your cred, dude. You... That's right. That's what you should do right now."
// This is irrelevant. God of War is supposed to be the main character.
Yeah, I guess we're going to dismiss the parts where we play as Atreus in Ragnarok, but putting that aside, since you exposed yourself as a dumb tourist, especially when you don't even know his name, allow me to enlighten you with this brilliant fact that anyone who pays attention to the story of God of War will know very well: Kratos is not the God of War.
In God of War 1, he fought Ares, the real Greek God of War. He becomes God of War in the end and at the beginning of God of War 2, but he got stripped off his powers in the intro. He never got the title again since then. Chain of Olympus? Ghost of Sparta? Ascension? All prequels. Throughout the Norse-era, he never got the title again either. I know because I played those games, and I am a fan, until Ragnarok made the game so bloated with boring chores, puzzles, and uninspired stories of rebelling against prophecies that completely made me lose interest, which is a shame because I do think that the characters are still incredibly solid and well-written. It's just that they have a really boring plot to drive them.
That being said, Kratos is the perfect embodiment of someone who is a God of War, but he doesn't officially hold the title of it, not on the Greek era, and definitely not on the Norse era. You are playing as someone who was a God of War, but you're not playing as someone who is a God of War.
The fact that you don't even know that or don't even know his name is more evidence that you are just a tourist, and this God of War Laufey discourse is being hijacked by these absolute fakers who think that they know anything about the franchise to speak any authority of them. Forget "If you don't play the game, you're not a fan." How about "If you have zero knowledge about the game, you're not a fan?"
