We celebrated the first day of fall on the farm by letting the goats in for a long awaited feast in theļæ¼ sunflower patch! Sunflowers and fall maple leaves are among their favorite snacks, so while many of us lament the end of summer, they love this time of year! They have been nibbling around the edges of the sunflower garden all season waiting for this very moment. A whole bunch of farm friends gathered to mark the occasion. While fall can feel like an ending of a time so full of warmth and life, on a farm we know that in many ways Autumn is just the beginning. When the goats clear the sunflowers, they are enjoying key nutrients and clearing their winter pen closer to the barn where they are more protected. They will spend the colder months there, and entertain a number of bucks resulting in spring babies starting in April! ļæ¼All the while, they are fertilizing the ground for next summerās sunflowers! Abundant life brewing even as the days get darker and colder! The goats set a wonderful example for us all to use the months ahead for magical quiet growth! Weāll be open through October for yoga Thursday evenings at 5:30 and Saturday mornings at 9:30 and for visiting and shopping in the farm store Saturdays 11-5. Pay the goats a visit to wish them well in the season ahead and soak up some of the herd energy! We are also about to release tickets for a wild women day at the farm Saturday November 2nd! Perhaps you will join us! Weāll create handmade journals with Lila Ray. Write our hearts onto the page with Tess Hall and head to the woods in meditation and movement with Hope Hall. Of course lots of time for visiting with the goats, a soup and charcuterie lunch, time around a fire š„ and time to write, play, connect and share.
