This started out as a Go mai but 2 layers peeled of the billet and I was left with an irregular San mai billet! I decided to go with the flow and finish the San mai knife with the irregular pattern. There is damascus on one side, 1084 in the middle and 15n20 on the other side. You guys named the knife in the last video, it's the Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde knife! I decided to outfit this awesome knife with C-Tek material for the bolsters and Fordite for the handle scales. Fordite or Detroit agate is from the automotive industry. They paint all the cars in a booth and the overspray builds up over time and eventually needs to be chipped out and discarded. It is a heat cured enamel paint that is easily shaped and polished and creates incredibly striking designs! I talk about using both handle materials and also talk about the challenges with heat treating a knife like this!
