If your just starting blacksmithing than you should get used to cleaning up old tools. Most of the affordable tools we use to blacksmith are approaching 100 years old. A very important part of smithing is the ability to hold and control hot steel. the king in the shop would be my post vice but I think this new vice will give it a run for it's money! I just picked up a sweet Blacksmithing Foot Vise here locally. It is in rough condition on the outside but has good bones! I am going to strip all the old paint and corrosion, oil the cast iron and put it to use. I did run into one complication throughout the rebuild but I was able to overcome it!
