Glinda Was NEVER GOOD?! The Dark Truth About Glinda In Wicked Part 2!
It never feels great when a protagonist takes a wrong turn and ends up on the dark side. It’s not something you expect to see in a musical based on The Wizard of Oz, but Wicked’s full of surprises! While you might assume I’m talking about Elphaba, the notorious Wicked Witch, it’s actually Glinda the Good Witch that I’ll analyze under a critical lens today. In the first part of the film, she decides to align herself with the Wizard, officially turning her from Elphaba’s friend into her enemy. However, I think the extended story of Wicked: For Good will show us that Glinda’s not in control of her own narrative, and that there’s someone else pulling “Glinda the Good’s” strings. Today’s video will take evidence from the first film and the recent trailers to discuss Glinda, her relationships, and how she lost control of her own life.
