About last night: Here are exclusive impressions from the stage and initial audience reactions to yesterday's opera premiere of L'ITALIANA IN ALGERI.

On International Women's Day, director Rolando Villazón sidesteps the xenophobic and misogynistic stereotypes inherent in the work, relocating the story to a wrestling studio and celebrating the power of women together with the overwhelming ensemble.
